One new build enters production each month

Custom Model Commission — Production Slot Reservation

$300.00 reservation deposit
Custom builds generally begin at $750.
Final pricing increases with kit cost, scale, printing, aftermarket parts, lighting, modifications, paint detail, display base, complexity, and shipping. Reserve a slot only if your anticipated budget begins within this range.
We schedule no more than one new commissioned build to enter production each calendar month. Complex projects may require more than one month to complete.

This is the anticipated month your build enters production, not a guaranteed completion date.

How commissions work

01

Choose a month

Select one available production-start month. Each month has an inventory of one.

02

Complete the intake

Tell us about the model, scale, lighting, finish, registry, and any special configuration.

03

Pay the deposit

The $300 reservation deposit secures the selected month and is credited toward your project.

04

Ron reviews it

Ron checks feasibility, kit availability, materials, electronics, printing, and estimated labor.

05

Receive your quote

Modelwerks sends an individualized quote. You have 72 hours to approve it.

06

Your build stays booked

Once approved, the project remains on the selected production calendar. Any additional materials payment will be stated in the quote.

Pricing and payment

What the deposit does

The $300 reservation deposit is credited toward the final price. The balance, shipping, and any approved additional charges must be paid before the completed model ships.

Projects requiring unusually costly kits, prints, aftermarket components, electronics, or specialty materials may require an additional materials payment after quote approval.

Feasibility and cancellation

What happens after review

If Modelwerks determines that the requested project is not feasible, the $300 deposit will be refunded in full.

If you decline the quote within the 72-hour review period and no materials have been ordered or work has begun, the deposit will be refunded less a $75 consultation and calendar-reservation fee. Once the quote is approved, materials are ordered, or work begins, the reservation deposit is nonrefundable.

Production timing

Built carefully, not recklessly

Completion dates are estimates rather than hard guarantees. Custom builds can uncover print failures, damaged or ill-fitting kit parts, material delays, electrical problems, or engineering issues that cannot be responsibly rushed.

Complex builds may remain in production beyond their starting month. The selected variant reserves the month the project is scheduled to enter the workshop.

The official booking rule

Past Ron cannot book Future Ron

Only reservations completed through this official Modelwerks commission page secure production time. Discussions through social media, email, conventions, private messages, or the general vicinity of Ron do not constitute a booking.

A quote is not a booking. A verbal conversation is not a booking. “Ron said he could probably do it” is absolutely not a booking.

That keeps everyone on the same page. Creative people are frequently optimistic about future time. Then Future Ron gets mugged by Past Ron’s promises.
