The Centaur class is one of Starfleet's most distinctive hybrid designs, combining the primary hull and engineering elements of the Excelsior lineage with the compact proportions and unconventional layout of a fast, powerful escort vessel. Developed during an era when Starfleet needed ships that could be produced and deployed quickly, the Centaur became an effective platform for patrol, escort, and combat operations. Its unusual silhouette has made it a favorite among Star Trek model builders and fans of the expanded Starfleet fleet.
Modelwerks' Centaur Class Starship takes that distinctive design and expands it into a highly configurable model kit. Available in both 1/1000 and 1/650 scales, the kit includes components allowing you to build the Centaur in four different configurations. Choose the Classic Configuration for the familiar original design, or upgrade the ship with our Updated Excelsior Configuration. For those who prefer the later-generation aesthetic, the kit also includes an Excelsior Refit Configuration, incorporating the distinctive details associated with the refit-era Excelsior design.
The fourth option pays tribute to one of the most popular interpretations of the design: the USS Resolute configuration. This version incorporates the distinctive features associated with the fan-favorite Resolute, giving builders even more flexibility when creating their own Starfleet fleet. With four configurations in a single kit, the Modelwerks Centaur offers an opportunity to build several very different interpretations of this compact Starfleet workhorse—all from the same base model.
